Boichitra desk : The singing bird Poly Rahman finally wrote the name in the field of play back singer here in Bangladesh film industry. Poly started her journey in playback singing by giving her voice in a film Sonai Kahini directed by the famous poet and director Shaheen Reza and this film Sonai Kahini is made on the resort of immortal creation of the legendary writer Jasim Uddin’s “Nakshi Kanthar Math”. The song is recorded under the guidance of eminent music director Mir Hasan Swapan today.
Poly was the regular artist of Khulna Radio and once upon a time she stirred at the stage by her singing at Bagerhat & Khulna. She has won multiple regional and national awards in music. Long time she was away from this world due to her family problems but recently she stirred on YouTube by the released album with poem & song by Rabindranath Tagore, the song is “Krishnakoli Ami Tarei Boli”. Already the song has become viral on You Tube.
Poly Rahman from one of a cultural district of Bagerhat have got deep love with music since her childhood and initiated learning with noted musician Khandaker Enayet Hossen from Bagerhat. And later she had taken lessons for sometime from Sri Billeswar Babu, Srimati Jyotsna Debnath, Srimati Sandhya Paul and Babu Sunil Chakrabarty. The contribution of her uncle Mr. Shahidul Islam and Mr. Ali Mozez Ahmed behind her song is undeniable. She recently received “Begum Rokeya Award 2017” for her contribution to the music. Poly Rahman’s new solo album “Kal je chilo buker pashe” is coming to the market by Rhidoy Mediavision’s banner soon.
Poly Rahman’s father S. M. Zahidur Rahman is an Advocate, though he had deep affection for music. Her mother Mrs. Rabeya Rahman, elder sister Advocate Roly Rahman and her three brothers Lft. Colonel Ashraf, Mr. Azhar & Mr. Amzad were all associated with music from childhood.
Recently, She gave voice at a song in a music video named “Stop Genocide” in protest of torture of rohingyas. It was composed by prominent music director Mir Hasan Swapan and the music video produced and made by the renowned film director and poet Mr. Shaheen Reza. This song contains all the tragic scenes of torture on rohingyas.
Poly Rahman has a special affection for Nazrul sangeet, though she felt comfortable to sing all kinds of songs. The only dream of the singing bird Poly Rahman is to win the heart of listeners and live there forever through the wave of pure music.
